D8 Skills #118 & D9 | Unit E | Andy Ford | Session #9

In the morning, after recording a drummer, Andy and I went through all the vocal takes in 'Ground Floor (again)' that we recorded yesterday and comped together our favourite parts.

I also cleaned up the backing vocals by chopping out the parts that should be silent (lip/mouth noises).

In the afternoon, I spoke to Andy about starting to record a new song. We decided on recording piano.

I set up 2 close-up RØDE NT2-As and 2 Audio Technica AT2050s in ORTF, along with all my gear in the drum booth.

When we were all ready to start recording, we recorded about 30 seconds and then Andy remembered that he hadn't finished writing the end of the song yet 🤦‍♂️

Here is a mixdown of some of what we recorded:

One issue I noticed is that the piano stool is very squeaky. Next time, we'll use a different one.
